SAN ANTONIO -- The Archdiocese of San Antonio revealed its remodeled exhibition of artifacts on Tuesday after two years of remodeling. It is encouraging students and the public to use this for research.
The exhibit will continue to bring in artifacts. But one of the items on display right now is the 1703 Baptismal Book.
The book contains baptismal, marriage and death records of parishioners. It also contains an entry from May 1, 1718, establishing San Antonio de Valero Mission - The Alamo.
"It's a precious book. I cannot picture in my mind another book other than this book for our region and our city of San Antonio," Archbishop Gustavo García-Siller said.
The book is written in Spanish by the Spanish from Spain. So, there are still a few terms that are difficult to translate. But the hope is to have it fully translated to English.
