SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio is poised for a steady stream of population growth, which, according to some calculations, could add as many as a million new residents to the city over the next 20 years. One of the fastest growing cities in America, San Antonio adds about 66 people per day, according to the U.S. Census American Community Survey.

As a result, city leaders must continually keep an eye on future plans for growth. At the annual Mayor’s Vision for San Antonio luncheon, hosted by the North San Antonio Chamber, Mayor Ron Nirenberg said he wants to attract new businesses, expand affordable housing, and invest in efficient transportation.

"Our history and our heritage and our cultural diversity have made it a place that people want to raise their families and want to move to and build businesses," said Nirenberg, adding, "Congratulations, you're in the best city on Earth."

The mayor maintains that San Antonio will not be a boom-and-bust city, but a premier city of the 21st Century, calling it “the city of America’s future.”

Even with 300 years of history, San Antonio’s mayor believes the best is still to come.
