SAN ANTONIO -- Cybersecurity is needed more than ever, and the number of cyber companies in San Antonio is growing. So is early education.

Students in sixth through 12th grade are attending a cyber camp to learn about securing a network, types of hacking and the dark web.

This camp is approved by the Air Force Association's national Cyber Patriot Program for early education. The CyberTexas Foundation and the United States Navy teamed up to show these campers how to work on real-life situations.

"Someone is going to have to keep our country safe, in our ever-changing world and the way technology is going and constantly changing," Chief Cryptologic Technician Interpretive Joseph Gabriel Yglesias of the U.S. Navy said. "Kids these days are growing up with technology almost immediately out of the crib. So I think more technologically adapting than us older folks are."

Cyber crime is out there, so the Navy is urging people to be vigilant and be careful.

The CyberTexas Foundation says securing your online activity is a good start - and  talking about it with your children is important, too.
