LOS ANGELES - A former San Antonio Spurs player and his wife are dead after being involved in a crash Wednesday morning.

California officials said Rasual Butler, 38, and his wife Leah LaBelle died when their Range Rover lost control and slammed into a wall.

Police say it's not yet confirmed if drugs or alcohol was involved.

Butler ended his professional career with the Spurs during the 2015-16 season. He previous played for the Miami Heat, the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Clippers, among others.

In a statement, the Spurs said "We’ve lost two special people in Leah LaBelle and Rasual Butler. Our hearts, prayers and condolences are with their families and friends. Rasual was a wonderful man, friend and teammate. His positive attitude, his professionalism and his warm smile made Rasual a joy to be around. All of us will miss Rasual and Leah a great deal."

LaBelle was a singer who once competed on American Idol.
