AUSTIN, Texas – Republican Senator John Cornyn is expects a vote early next week on the GOP-led tax reform bill.

Cornyn was in Austin on Friday visiting the Central Texas Food Bank.

He said the revised tax bill will maintain the deductibility of charitable contributions, which he said will continue to make it easier to donate to charities like food banks.

Cornyn was optimistic about the future of the bill and said that last-minute revisions could win over Republican holdouts.

"I do believe we will pass it probably by next Tuesday," said Cornyn.

Cornyn also addressed Representative Blake Farenthold's decision to not seek reelection.  The Corpus Christi Congressman was hit with multiple sexual harassment allegations.

Cornyn said Farenthold made the right decision, and that Congress has "a lot to do" to regain its reputation as a safe workplace.
