  • Runners taking on life and love one mile at a time

"Magic of love, friendship, running and a love for running," said event organizer Ceci, of Huarache Turbo.

Runners showed up either looking for fun or trying for their personal best.

"I was stationed here with the Air Force, I would run a lot of races," said runner John Fredland. "Ceci puts on the best races."

A portion of the proceeds will go to local organizations; like the Boy Scouts.

"It's just great to be back in San Antonio and in the San Antonio running community," said Fredland. "It was one of the things I enjoyed in my time here."

One member of this running community is putting in 40,000 lifetime miles after crossing the finish line.

"My running club nickname is Scotty Dogg because I feed all the dogs I see along the run," said runner Scotty Dogg.

Besides crossing the finish line, there were other celebrations taking place at the race. On runner celebrated turning 65, another had their 33-year wedding anniversary and one beat colon cancer.

"As long as I keep running I won't have an occurrence and so far so good," said Scotty.

These runners are taking on life and love one mile at a time.

Huarache Turbo puts on four other running events throughout the year all with a Mexican theme.
