SAN MARCOS, Texas - Hays County Sheriff Gary Cutler on Wednesday will hold a public remembrance ceremony for Officer Ken Copeland, the San Marcos Police Department officer who lost his life in the line of duty last year.

The ceremony is set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hays County Government Center, which is located at 712 S. Stagecoach Trail in San Marocs.

On December 4, 2017, 58-year-old Copeland was shot and killed will serving a search warrant in San Marcos’s El Camino Real subdivision.
Copeland was a 19-year veteran of the department and the department’s first officer to die in the line of duty. He left behind a wife and four kids.
