NATIONWIDE – Travelers looking to head home for the holidays might want to allocate some extra time for flying.

The lobbying group Airlines for America said a record 30 million people will take flight during the 12-day holiday period, which starts on Friday, November 16.

The numbers are up more than one-and-a-half million from last year. The busiest day for traveling is the Sunday after Thanksgiving.

The Austin-Bergstrom International Airport has added 12 more nonstop flights since last Thanksgiving, bringing the number to 82 destinations.
