SAN ANTONIO – Around 28 fire units were deployed to the 6400 block of Wurzbach Road on Thursday morning.

  • Man, grandfather and dog able to exit
  • Resident was having plumbing work done
  • Firefighters ripped through walls and roof

According to resident Chance Jones, his apartment went up in flames while he was having plumbing work done.

Jones said he was able to grab his dog and some electronics before leaving the apartment. His grandfather was also able to exit.

San Antonio Fire Department PIO Woody Woodward said firefighters saw heavy smoke from the road and forced their way into the apartment upon arrival. He also said the cause of the fire was most likely electrical.

Two apartments were affected.

Firefighters had to break through the roof, making the units currently uninhabitable.

SAFD is still on scene to contain the fire.
