SAN ANTONIO – Police shut down streets around Alamo Plaza and E. Houston Street in connection to a bomb threat on Thursday afternoon.

According to San Antonio Police Department PIO Doug Greene, firefighters had parked their engine on E. Houston St. around noon and when they returned they found a suspicious package.

The package was described as a box with a clay object on top of it with pieces sticking out. The firefighters were also unable to start their truck. They notified the bomb squad and the arson team.

People in the courthouse were evacuated.

The package was determined a non-explosive device. 

The area was rendered all-clear but authorities will continue to survey and check cameras in the area.

A hoax bomb is a felony offense.
