The community-style Thanksgiving dinner began in 1979 when San Antonio restaurant owner and businessman Raul Jimenez recognized the need to serve senior citizens in the community during the holiday.

The event has grown and is now held at Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Seniors are invited to dine at a “community dinner table,” celebrate the holiday with their peers, and enjoy live entertainment.

It now serves over 25,000 less fortunate and eldery people.

The Jimenez family, including the grandson of Raul Jimenez, watched and cheered on the participants as they competed.
