UVALDE, Texas –  The driver charged in the deaths of 13 people in a bus crash near Uvalde has been sentenced to 55 years.

Jack Dillon Young was driving a truck that crashed into a church bus in March 2017.

Last month, the National Transportation and Safety Board released a report saying Young's use of marijuana and a sedative contributed to the crash.

According to the report, Young had taken twice the prescribed amount of the sedative prior to the crash.

The bus was returning from a senior retreat when the crash happened. The reports states that the bus lacked seat belts, which might have prevented some of the deaths.

Young pleaded no contest earlier this year.
