SAN ANTONIO -- The City of San Antonio World Heritage Office will partner with multiple San Antonio organizations to host its first official Dia De Los Muertos celebration.

The office will partner with the National Park Service, Mission San Jose, Neighborhood Association, Mission Descendant Families and Mission Marquee Plaza.

The new community event is aimed at preserving the culture and history of this millennial tradition.

The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Mission San Jose Granary where mission descendant families will have their ofrendas on display.

There will be an educational show-and-tell workshop, indigenous song and drumming, and a native blessing of the ofrendas.

Attendees are invited to transform the large stage into a community altar by placing photos of their loved ones and other family remembrances on the platform.
