SAN ANTONIO – The family of Janice Crawford, who was killed in a drive-by shooting on Coral Sunrise last week, spoke out on their family member’s sudden and tragic death.

According to San Antonio police, two teenagers were sitting in her cousin’s driveway on October 11 when a car pulled up and began shooting. The teens ran away unharmed but Crawford was found shot in the front bedroom of the home.

“My mother-in-law said, ‘Kiki your house is being shot up and Janice is fighting for her life,’” Takia Henderson, a cousin, said.

Henderson and her children were away at the time but quickly arrived to find their home wrapped in crime scene tape.

“I never thought when I told [Janice] I would see her later it would be in heaven,” Henderson said.

The following day police charged 25-year-old Tyrend White with the crime. He remains in the Bexar County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

“I forgive him but I would tell [White], ‘What if it were you? What if it was your mother? What if it was your children being hit,’” Henderson said.

On Saturday, the family plans to hold funeral services for Crawford. Meanwhile, police say the shooting remains under investigation with more possible suspects to come forward. Henderson said all she wants is justice for her cousin.

“Whatever is [God’s] will, is [God’s] way and I know [God] will guarantee justice is served.”
