AUSTIN, Texas – The Austin Disaster Relief Network is working hard to develop a plan of action to help those affected by the heavy rains and flooding.

Several families have already been displaced and more evacuations could take place if the lake levels do not begin to recede soon. People with the Austin Disaster Relief Network are working to go out into the community to find anyone that does need assistance.

“Right now we have mobilized our call center and we have activated our disaster assessment team. It is in the field, gathering real-time information for us today. We anticipate that there could be hundreds of homes that are affected in the Highland Lakes area. In addition to that, over the next few days and even weeks we could be looking at things like distribution management, donations of goods, being able to collect that and process those and distribute those—working with local communities to process that effectively,” said Stephen Brewer, with the Austin Disaster Relief Network.
