TEXAS – H-E-B employees across Texas are set to volunteer at their local fire stations on Tuesday.

Sept. 11 has been the grocery store chain’s "Helping Heroes" day of service for the past 14 years.

Employees will prepare meals and provide other support at more than 700 fire stations throughout the Lone Star state. A total of 175 fire stations in Central Texas will take part in the service day along with 137 in San Antonio and West Texas.

More than 4,500 H-E-B employees will take part in the event in the 300 communities they serve.

In a press release H-E-B’s Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity and Environmental Affairs, Winell Herron said “For 14 years, Helping Heroes gives our Partners a chance to give back to the courageous first responders who dedicate their lives to our communities.”
