BEXAR COUNTY, Texas -- Tuesday, Bexar County Commissioners Court passed a $1.71 billion budget.

For the first time in nearly 30 years the Bexar County Sheriff's Office will be hiring a staff psychologist, along with new detective positions and new SWAT team.

The budget allows the Bexar County Sheriff department to make the proposed public safety improvements and upgrades, which comes after 18 deputies have been arrested this year.

The budget will also allow for two new Sheriff's Patrol Substations that will be opening on the West and East side of Bexar County. County leaders believe this will help expand law enforcement presence and decrease the emergency response time.
