SAN ANTONIO — One person has died after a stabbing on the West Side, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office.

According to police, it happened around 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Earlier in the day, two childhood friends were drinking at a baby shower. One of the friends had too much to drink and wanted to drive home. The other friend tried to stop him from driving, but the drunk friend began to get angry and pulled a knife and stabbed his friend in the neck.

The victim, 25-year-old Guy Larue, ran from him and collapsed on the street. Police said the victim was transported to University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man who allegedly stabbed him was taken into custody. He has been identified as 23-year-old Juan Jose Ortega and is being held on a $100,000 bond facing murder charges.
