SAN ANTONIO -- The sound of clapping could be heard Saturday morning along Jones Maltsberger Road.

A sign bearing the name of fallen U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class David James Todd Jr. was installed. City leaders, Gold Star family members and military support groups gathered to dedicate the bridge in his honor.

Sergeant Todd was killed while on tour in Afghanistan in 2008.

A group called "Bridges for the Fallen" and the Todd Family petitioned for the road bridge to be renamed.

San Antonio City Council approved the name change in June.
