SAN ANTONIO – A German Shepard that was found severely burned after being left out in the sun now has a forever home.

Molly has been adopted and went home with her new family on Monday.

On June 11, Molly was brought into Animal Care Services with thermal burns from the tip of her head to her tail.

Molly has since recovered after being treated by the medical staff at ACS.

A thermal burn is a type of burn that results from making contact with heated objects, like boiling water, steam, cooking oil, fire or any other hot object. Pet owners are reminded to find shelter and shade for outdoor pets as the triple-digit Texas temperatures persist.

ACS said they receive calls daily related to pets being left in the heat or in locked cars.

It is still unknown what exactly caused the dog's injuries.
