SAN ANTONIO -- A woman who lives in the home where police found a 2-year-old boy dead over the weekend is speaking out about the incident.

She is one of the two adults who were in the home at the time who were administering CPR on the child and did not want to be identified.

"It's not done purposely, it's not. I know so. My girlfriend was taking care of him, his Mom was unstable," she said.

The woman told Spectrum News that the child’s mother placed the care of her kids into someone else's hands.

"I know, I know she didn't do this purposely. I know she didn't, she loves these kids. The mom trusted her with her kids. So I know it wasn't done on purpose, I know it wasn't. It wasn't,” she said.

The witness said she doesn't exactly know what happened because she was going in and out house and not in the room where the child was. The only possibility she said she can think of is if the boy ate something or consumed a spray for cat fleas in the house.

Child Protective Services confirms that it is conducting a joint investigation with police.

The medical examiner's office identified the child as Desmond Jimenez. San Antonio police are continuing their investigation into the sudden death, as they treat all apparent sudden death cases as suspicious until they can be cleared.
