NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — The Humane Society of New Braunfels is holding $10 adoptions on Friday and Saturday due to overcrowding.

The shelter staff says they're making tough decisions. As an open-intake shelter, they can't turn animals away, but they don't have enough room or staff to accommodate the numbers.

They say they believe there's a home for every pet, but the shelter does euthanize some at-risk animals.

Now the Humane Society is asking for the public's help.

"We've got to move them out and we've got to move them out quicker,” Sarah Hammond with Humane Society of New Braunfels said. “We do not have a veterinarian on staff. We do not have a behaviorist on staff. We can recognize when animals need more help than we can offer. And that's when we reach out to the public."

The shelter is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m to 4 p.m.
