SAN ANTONIO — Musicians in San Antonio now have a chance to share their music at City Hall.

San Antonio City Council is launching a spotlight program in which local artists can submit original songs to be featured at City Council meetings and will be featured on their website.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg said the program allows residents to hear music from their very own community.

“San Antonio’s music scene is full of world-class talent in all genres of music,” Nirenberg said. “This program provides an opportunity for all citizens to hear the incredible music that their fellow residents create, and to continue San Antonio’s dedication to being a music-friendly community.”

Applications for the program will be accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed for selection by the San Antonio Arts Commission’s Music Committee.

Artists can submit up to three original songs to be considered for play during the following City Council meetings, which are held in the Municipal Plaza Building, including:

  • “A session” meetings, held at 9 a.m. every Thursday, except the fourth week of the month
  • “B session” meetings, held Wednesdays at 2 p.m., except the fourth week of the month
  • Special City Council meetings (may be held at locations other than the Municipal Plaza Building)
