SAN ANTONIO – A San Antonio middle school teacher was killed in an accident while visiting Uganda, according to the San Antonio Independent School District.

William Davis was a teacher at Rhodes Middle School, and had been working there since 1995, according to the school’s website.

Davis' bio on the school's website said that he taught tech apps, video production, and web design. He earned his Instructional Technology Masters Degree in 2006 from Grand Canyon Univeristy. Aside from teaching at Rhodes Middle School, Davis taught 'Foundations of Effective Teaching' and 'Managing Behavior in School Communities' classes for the San Antonio ISD. 

No further details regarding the accident or cause of death have been released at this point in time.

The San Antonio ISD released the following statement on their Facebook page:

We are deeply saddened by the news that Rhodes MS teacher William Davis died in Uganda in an accident. He and his passion for education will be greatly missed.
