FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas – What appears to be a marijuana grow operation was discovered in Fayette County on Thursday.

Around 1:30 p.m. sheriff’s deputies were called to Barton Creek off of Highway 71 after someone reported a large amount of marijuana found near Kirtley. 

Arriving officials discovered 2,500 cannabis plants.

A narcotics unit, Drug Enforcement Administration agents, a Department of Public Safety task force and Homeland Security agents all assisted with the investigation.

After an extensive search in the air and on the ground, no one was found in the surrounding area.
