SAN ANTONIO – Summer heat in Central Texas leads to a number of safety concerns for children. In an effort to raise awareness of two of the most impactful – children drowning alone in water, and children being locked in hot cars, Texas Child Protective Services and the Bexar County Child Welfare Board are teaming up to release thousands of new posters into the community, calling attention to those problems.

Due to a number of tragic accidents already this season, the “Be On the Look Out” program, or BOLO, encourages people who see something dangerous to say something as quickly as possible.

"If you are walking through parking lots, be vigilant, look in those cars, pay attention. If you see something, say something. Call  911. It's immediate with this type of heat. We're over 100 degrees...it can really impact a child," said Erica Banuelos of Child Protective Services.
