SAN ANTONIO -- Food at the Pet Pantry of Animal Care Services is running very low, specifically dog and cat foods. The shelves are just about empty.

The pantry is filled via donations from the community.

All the donations go to hundreds of families every year who qualify. It's so they can keep their pets and not surrender them due to financial circumstances. Animal Care Services said the food is low because more families are coming in to pick up the food.

"Right now, as you can see, usually we have all walls packed with food. And we have families coming in this week that won't be able to receive any unless we can get more donations coming in," said Claudia Balarin with City of San Antonio Animcal Care Services.

ACS is asking for food donations - any animal, any brand or any size will help.

"If you want to be a part of this amazing program where we help hundreds of families every year, please donate to our shelter. We accept all sorts of pet food - any brand, any size, even a little bag can help and go a long way for these families," said Balarin.

Donations can be dropped off at their shelter.
