AUSTIN, Texas -- The Saharan dust is back, making the more than 5,000-mile journey once more.

Some people are probably feeling it all over again.

People with sensitivity issues like asthma, allergies, or any other lung conditions may notice increased irritation. Other sensitive groups could be the elderly and children.

In order to help minimize the impacts, people should try to limit their time outdoors. The dust may be causing irritation to us, but it’s actually a good thing for the Atlantic hurricane season. The dust will suppress any tropical development, which is why it’s pretty quiet for now.

The dust creates more air particulates for the sun to scatter, creating a red or orange tint to the sunrise and sunset. Sunrise is just after 6:45 a.m. and sunset is around 8:30 p.m. Get your cameras ready.
