MIDLAND COUNTY, Texas -- Human remains found in West Texas early this year have been identified as those of two young Puerto Ricans who had been missing since 2015.

The Midland County Sheriff's Office said they received a call in 2015 from a concerned family relative who hadn't seen the pair.

The case then went cold, but after the remains were found, DNA tests were able to determine they were that of 20-year-old John Iglesia-Alvarez and 19-year-old Ashley Cruz-Rodriguez. Both were shot to death.

Police now searching for a man they stayed with in West Texas at the time they went missing. That man, also from Puerto Rico, is wanted for both murders.

Authorities fear that he may have fled the country.
