SAN ANTONIO — The Alamo City has another national champion to brag about.

Earlier this month, 18-year-old Tristen Brasnahan was crowned the overall winner at this year's Special Olympics USA National Games held in Seattle.

The Brandeis High School graduate won gold in the squat, bench press and overall category. He also took home the silver in deadlift.

Lifting a total of 963 pounds for all three lifts, he’s now the 2018 83 kilogram Junior National Champion.

More than 3,000 athletes and 1,000 coaches competed in summer sports.

Brasnahan says he will keep training and compete internationally. He says he wants to make the U.S. proud and  prepare for the 2022 Olympic Games.

Tristen is on the Autism Spectrum and plans to attend Northwest Vista College, graduate, and become a contributing member of society.
