SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Police Department and the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance are coming together to honor two fallen police officers.

Officers Miguel Moreno and Robert Deckard died in the line of duty.

The pair were organ donors, and both saved four lives. One of the recipients said he is grateful to be alive and urges anyone considering being a donor to do so.

“Just look at what you could possibly do. Just the life of the two officers we discussed today. Together they affected eight families, me being one of them. We really have a chance at a long, healthy life again,” said Gene Dudley, an organ donor recipient.

The San Antonio Police Department and the Texas Organ Sharing Alliance are collaborating to celebrate ECHO, which stands for Every Community Has Opportunity, the opportunity being to save lives. It's a national initiative aimed at raising organ, eye and tissue donation awareness among diverse communities.
