SAN ANTONIO — A man was arrested for allegedly stealing a “Make America Great Again,” or "MAGA," hat from a 16-year-old.
According to police, three friends were eating at a Whataburger in far northeast San Antonio when the suspect approached their table. The suspect allegedly removed the MAGA cap from one of the teen’s head without his consent and tossed a large glass of soda and ice on his face. The suspect then left the listed location with the teen’s cap.
Police were not immediately notified about the incident. However, a video of the incident was posted on social media. Later that evening, the teen and his guardian arrived to the North Patrol substation to report the assault that occurred at the listed location.
After learning about the incident, police began conducting a search for the suspect. On Thursday, detectives assigned to the Robbery Unit Task Force were able to identify the suspect as 30-year-old Kino Jimenez and issued a warrant for theft of person. Jimenez was located in Universal City, Texas, and Universal City police took him into custody without incident. He was transported to the Robbery Unit to be interviewed by detectives assigned to the case, before he was transported to the Bexar County Jail.
