SAN ANTONIO —  The sights, sounds and tastes of Spain took over the Pearl for World Tapas Day.

Ten prominent chefs from different areas of Spain showcased some of their most creative and mouth-watering tapas.

This event is part of the Pearl's new summer program called Olé, San Antonio and celebrates the Alamo City's Tricentennial.

For some of the chefs, cooking for this event was their first time in the U.S.

"It is my first time in the United States and I'm so excited. I look to everything and I'm always smiling because for me it's like a really good spirits. I don't know how to to say it, I'm happy here, really happy,” said Taberna del Alabardero chef Juan Leopoldo Nunez Esquivel.

The Pearl says this is the first time World Tapas Day has been celebrated in the U.S. like this.

There will be events celebrating Spanish influences in gastronomy, music, art and architecture all summer long.  See the schedule and information on how to attend here.
