SAN ANTONIO — The Battle of Flowers Association wants designers to reconsider their proposed Alamo Interpretive Plan.

  •   First Battle of Flowers Parade took place in 1891

It’s making the plea because the current plan reroutes the annual Battle of Flowers Parade.

It also permanently closes Alamo Street, which runs right in front of the historical landmark.

For more than a century, parade floats have taken a moment to pause in front of the Alamo.

This special part of the parade pays tribute to the fallen heroes from the Battle of San Jacinto.

A tradition that the association says is now in jeopardy.

“The Flambeau Parade is also the same route and together we've realized this is the only route we can take so i would hate for the parades to go away but that might be what happens,” said association member Anna-Laura Block.

After multiple attempts to reach out, the association still hopes its concerns will be heard.
