SAN ANTONIO — San Antonio police have made an arrest in connection with an ambush-style murder on the East Side that dates back to early March.

Kevin Luster, 19, is charged with the murder of 19-year-old Tamaris Taylor on March 13 in a parking lot along Upland Road, located near I-10 and East Houston Street.

According to the arrest warrant affidavit, Luster is accused of setting up a meeting with Taylor, who he knew from high school.

Police said Taylor was ambushed soon after arriving for the meeting as he sat in his car at an Upland Road apartment complex parking lot.

Surveillance video shows a man sneaking out of another car, going around to Taylor’s passenger side window and firing a gun at him, the affidavit said.

The video shows a second person driving the suspect’s car, the court documents said.

Phone records and a Snapchat exchange helped police linked Luster to the case.

Luster told investigators he did arrangement the meetup with Taylor, but had no knowledge of the shooting going in, the affidavit says.

He said the second suspect, identified as Zyshonne Napier, age 19, had threatened him and was planning to rob Taylor at gunpoint, with help from his friends. Luster claims man called him after the murder and warned him not to say anything.

Luster was arrested on June 11 at 2:40 p.m. It is not known at this time if Napier is in custody.
