SAN MARCOS – Teenage cancer patients from across the country got to ride in the car of their dreams.

The teens were given a full police escort to the State Capitol. The 28th annual car ride to the Capitol brought smiles to the faces of the teens battling cancer.

One 14-year-old turned up the '80s rock in her Ferrari.

"I'm just so grateful to even be here. It's so fun. Maybe I'll want a Ferrari when I grow up. Haha," said Summer Bergerson.

Jennifer Wisler with the Sunshine Kids Foundation said the ride gives the teens the opportunity to meet other kids like them and know that they are not alone.

“[They] form their own bonds and friendship to help them strengthen their battle against this disease,” said Wisler.

After touring the Capitol and meeting Gov. Greg Abbott, the kids headed back to San Marcos to float the river and enjoy some Texas barbeque.
