SAN ANTONIO — Get ready outdoors and film lovers, the San Antonio River Authority is teaming up with The Wild and Scenic Film Fest to host the Environmental Film Fest.

This is the fifth year SARA has brought the festival to San Antonio. Each year, the festival attracts top filmmakers, celebrities and leading activists in hopes to inspire people to protect the environment and rivers through film.

This year’s festival theme is Groundswell. In all, 14 films will hit the big screen. Two of those films were produced by local filmmakers. Organizers of the environmental festival say they hope people leave wanting to get involved in environmental issues.

"Through the years we do see people leave the film fest inspired and ready to take action,” Yviand Serbones-Hernandez with SARA said. “So we have our volunteers programs. We invite the San Antonio River Foundation to take part in this event."

The Film Fest will be held next Tuesday, June 12 at Santikos Palladium on San Antonio's North Side. The event starts at 6 p.m. and is free to attend.
