SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Police Department on Monday morning reported one of its officers has been arrested and is facing a charge of assault.

Officer Michael Sepanski, 25, was taken into custody at 1:51 a.m. Monday. He’s facing a charge of assault, choking or strangling.

According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent to Sepanski's home in connection to a call about an assault. When they arrived, the officer's wife told them her husband placed his forearm around her, restricting her airway and breathing.

The department said Sepanski, who has been with the force for less than a year, will be placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal and administrative investigation.
