AUSTIN, Texas — A man severed his arm after a rollover on the West Side of San Antonio.

According to police, a vehicle was at a complete stop at a red light on Callaghan. A truck came from behind and slammed into the vehicle at the light. The truck rolled several times causing the driver to be thrown around in the cab. The passenger side window of the truck broke causing the glass to slice the drivers arm right off.

EMS quickly recovered the severed arm and rushed the driver of the truck to University Hospital in critical condition. Police suspect alcohol was a factor. He will be charged with DWI if he survives.

The driver of the other vehicle did not suffer any injuries and was taken home by the parents. Police did receive a call from the parents claiming they later took their son to the hospital. The injuries were not disclosed.
