FAYETTE COUNTY, Texas -- According to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, a traffic stop near Flatonia, Texas, on Tuesday resulted in the seizure of approximately $1.6 million in cocaine.

The office said about 10:27 a.m., Sgt. Randy Thumann and his K-9 partner, Lobos, conducted a traffic stop along Interstate 10 on a tractor-trailer.

Lobos swept the vehicle and immediately detected the presence of narcotics. About 16 kilos of cocaine were discovered.

The driver, 55-year-old Steve Palmer, of Sealy, Texas, was taken into custody and charged with felony possession of a controlled substance.
