SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Spurs Silver Dancers have been ousted from the court to make way for a new, “family-friendly” coed team.

The new 35-member hype team will debut this coming season. A press release announced the decision with the goal of energizing crowds with their tumbling, acrobatics, dance and stunts.

The performers will be ambassadors of the Spurs brand at community events, public appearances and home games.

“We are excited to announce our new Spurs hype team,” said Spurs Sports & Entertainment Vice President Tammy Turner. “This team will further enhance the game-night experience for Spurs fans at the AT&T Center.”

Open auditions for the new hype team will be on July 21 and Aug. 5, at the University of the Incarnate World. Coaches are looking for stunt artists, tumblers, acrobats, cheerleaders and other performers.

The name of the new team has not been announced yet. Audition registration will be released soon.

Spurs Silver Dancers have been a part of the NBA team since the '90s.
