DRIPPING SPRINGS, Texas -- Scalpers are targeting Hamilton Pool, selling reservations on sites like Craigslist for five times their value.

The park started taking reservations three years ago. It wasn't uncommon back then to have 200 people waiting for the 70 spots available in the park.

This summer people have been buying multiple reservations under different aliases, then selling the $11 tickets for up to $50.

"It's a crime to enter false information into a governmental record. Some of these ticket scalpers, in order to avoid being caught, are putting in false emails, false phone numbers, so they can hide the fact that they are the ones getting these reservations," said Michael Brewster, the park supervisor.

Brewster says it is disappointing to have people profiting off the park.

"I'm offended and the parks are offended, just as much as the public is offended. It goes against the grain of what the reservation system is made for. It's designed for customer service, so people can plan their trip to Hamilton Pool without the free-for-all that we had before reservations," he added.

The park is just about booked up for every weekend this summer. However, there are some weekdays available.

Officials have also instituted a rescheduling feature for those who can't make their reservation. They recommend checking their site often to see if any new spots are available for purchase.

The park is also considering requiring an ID with purchase.
