AUSTIN, Texas -- Republican Matt McCall is running for a third time to represent the people of Congressional District 21. The district includes portions of Austin and San Antonio and spans west into the Hill Country.

The Boerne businessman challenged retiring Congressman Lamar Smith in 2014 and 2016.

This round, he survived a field of 18 primary contenders to now face former congressional aide Chip Roy in the May 22 runoff for their party's nomination. He calls himself a constitutional conservative and supports term limits, building a border wall and limited government.

“I think the country is in crisis and that we need to get our budget balanced for real,” McCall said on Capital Tonight.

He also criticized his opponent for not living in the district.

“My opponent is being funded by a Super PAC from Washington, DC. He does not live in the district. Those are two facts.”

In Texas, you only have to live in the state and not in the particular district to run for Congress.
