MAXWELL, Texas -- The Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday detailed a large-scale drug and weapons seizure that happened in the unincorporated community of Maxwell.

On Sunday about 10:10 p.m., deputies were called to a home on Mesquite Drive in Maxwell concerning an assault. Deputies took 41-year-old Adam Gonzales into custody. He is charged with aggravated assault, injury to a child and abandoning/endangering a child.

Deputies seized a handgun belonging to Gonzales.

On Monday, deputies returned to the home with a search warrant. While serving the warrant, they located a white powder that tested positive for cocaine.

They additionally seized three handguns, five long guns, more than $10,000 in cash and a large quantity of drug distribution equipment.

Gonzales was subsequently released on a $125,000 bond. An investigation is ongoing.
