SAN ANTONIO – U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, visited people in the Alamo City on Tuesday.

The stop was part of his reelection campaign. Cruz held a meet-and-greet at the Barn Door restaurant on the city’s Northside.

His campaign message is "Tough As Texas," and his goal is to energize and mobilize Texans to vote their values. During his visit, he recognized Texan’s resilience during tough times, noting recovery efforts following Hurricane Harvey and the shooting in Sutherland Springs.

He also talked about the economic growth in Bexar County.

“I think Bexar County is seeing the benefits of low taxes and low regulations. It would hurt Bexar County to go back to high taxes, high regulations, and stifling job growths,” Cruz said.

Cruz called San Antonio a booming city and said the job growth draws more people to the state. The senator also stopped in New Braunfels.

Democratic challenger U.S. Rep. Beto O’Rourke, D-El Paso, is looking to unseat Cruz in November’s election.
