Part of Prospect Park in Brooklyn is about to become a little more accessible.

City Parks officials as well as leaders with the Prospect Park Alliance celebrated the start of construction of the restoration to Flatbush Avenue outside the Park Thursday.

The re-paved sidewalk will also be lined with new trees and lights and will have a new fence.

Officials also unveiled two new entrances being added to the Park, both between Grand Army Plaza and the Prospect Park Zoo.

These are the first new entrances to the Park since the 1940's.

Officials say it will allow people to walk on paved paths, instead of walking through the woods.

"It'll be a much nicer, easier access to get here, a much more pleasant stroll. There'll be benches for people to sit. It'll be much more park-like. It will feel like you are in the park which is what we want." Sue Donoghue, President, Prospect Park Alliance.

The sidewalk is expected to be complete this fall.

The new entrances should be ready by 2020.
