SAN ANTONIO – An officer-involved shooting ended with the suspect dead at a downtown San Antonio Embassy Suites Tuesday morning.

A suspicious man was found inside the hotel by an employee who called police to the 125 block of East Houston Street just around 5 a.m. The suspect was allegedly going from floor to floor trying to break into rooms.

Arriving officers found the man trying to break into a room on the 7^th floor. A gun battle was ignited between the suspect and two police office5rs on the 7^th floor of the hotel. The suspect was killed during the shooting.

The 7^th floor was on lockdown and Soledad Street is blocked off at Houston Street. Hotel guests not on the 7^th floor are being allowed to come and go.

Police Chief William McManus said they don’t know who fired first, but the suspect was armed with a 45 caliber pistol.

No guests were harmed in the incident.
