SAN ANTONIO – An officer-involved shooting ended with the suspect dead at a downtown San Antonio Embassy Suites Tuesday morning.

A suspicious man was found inside the hotel by an employee who called police to the 125 block of East Houston Street just around 5 a.m. The suspect was allegedly going from floor to floor trying to break into rooms.

Arriving officers found the man trying to break into a room on the 7th floor. A gun battle was ignited between the suspect and two police office5rs on the 7th floor of the hotel. The suspect was killed during the shooting.

The 7th floor was on lockdown and Soledad Street is blocked off at Houston Street. Hotel guests not on the 7th floor are being allowed to come and go.

Police Chief William McManus said they don’t know who fired first, but the suspect was armed with a 45 caliber pistol.

No guests were harmed in the incident.
