ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Teenagers from across Texas are showing they have what it takes to be a future police officer.

Dozens of people competed in this year's AW Grimes Memorial Police Explorer Competition in Round Rock on Saturday.

According to Round Rock Police, 60 police explorer teams competed in 38 investigative and tactical scenarios.

"They want to come to these competitions to enhance their skills to learn how to better serve the public or how to be a better police officer if that's there end goal.  We have actual hands on scenarios today such as arrest and search, robbery in progress, burglary in progress, crime scene search, traffic stop, traffic accident, DWI. You name it. It goes through the whole spectrum of what we do on the job."

Police explorers are between 14 and 20 years old, and are typically students who have an interest in law enforcement.
