HOUSTON, Texas – For nearly six years, a Texas journalist has been held in Syria by kidnappers while he was on assignment covering the crisis in Damascus.

Houston native Austin Bennett Tice was kidnapped on Aug. 13, 2012 while he was reporting for a variety of news organizations; like CBS and The Washington Post. Tice, 37, is a freelance journalist and photographer.

Now, the United States government is offering a reward up to $1 million for any information that will lead them to Tice and return him home safely.
