MEDINA COUNTY, Texas — One person is dead following an small-engine plane crash Sunday.

The crash happened before 11:30 a.m. around the Medina and Bexar County line near Potranco Road and County Road 381. No one else was found inside the plane.

The small aircraft crashed in a brushy and underdeveloped area near Potranco Elementary School, making it a challenge for emergency crews to find the wreckage.

“It was difficult because there are no roads leading to the crash site,” Sgt. Orlando Moreno with the Texas Department of Public Safety said. “So, they had to kind of make their own roads as you can see there’s a lot of woods and brush here to get to it.”

The Federal Aviation Administration is handling the investigation. Investigators said the aircraft caught on fire when it went down, making it difficult to identify the type of plane.

This is a developing story. We will update the story as more information becomes available.
